For my first study i found a pice byDonato Giancola Called Earth to Universe. I really like the reflective quality of the metal and though it would be a fun piece to do to start off.
Thanks both of you... to Mike B. i am going to have to attribute any part that might look better to the quality of the image. Donato is a fantastic painter that will take me quite awhile to get to his skill level., but i still appreciate the kind words
Jake, Looks great! I don't know how you set up the file but I would recommend using more layers. If you create the file with the background as a separate layer it allows you to change its blur and saturation independently. This is particularly important in getting that magical cosmos to look right against the background. It currently looks a little too much on the same plane as the figure. This is also a critique of the original. The cosmos in hand would also benefit from some adjustments separate from the hand. The cosmos itself would benefit from several layers at different opacities. Please try to find some higher resolution images to copy from once in a while. There is a lot to learn when you see the tiny details and brush strokes.
Nice job Jacob! You got the effects well.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad that some parts of your picture look better than the original. (Course it could just be the low quality of the original..) Good job!
