So i saw the tutorial for today and attempted to copy the results. it turned out looking more like a robot with the skin being turned into armor plating but i still could not get the reflection to look right. Although as i worked through the process the vest became alot more metallic looking.
This is definately the strongest edition of this picture yet (in regards to what you want to accomplish)
ReplyDeleteJust in passing, I think the right side of the picture needs a little resolution. Her arm practically merges with the background because they are about the same color and value. I don't think adding a Halo (like the tutorial suggested) would help for this...perhaps try adding a Hue/saturation mask layer and darkening the part just right by her arm.
The other thing that stuck out to me, is that the lines defining her 'robotic plates' seemed a bit wishy -washy (especially when compared to her hair.) I know that these aren't supposed to be finished masterpieces...so I am just making general statements. Hope that they help.
Good job!
More regular part lines come from using a pen tool and making vector paths along which to move your brushes. I will try to do a demo of that soon. It is a very important and helpful process.
